Just across the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin County is San Francisco's picturesque playground. From misty, redwood-dense coasts to the sharp heights of Mt. Tamalpais, Marin County is an inspirational haven populated by masterful Bay Area artists along with
affluent, mansion-dwelling professionals. For both and the entire Bay Area, Marin's secluded state and national parks, such as Mt. Tamalpais, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, Muir Woods, Marin Headland offer a green respite from a hectic urban existence among San Francisco's concrete hills.
For visitors, Marin's small towns, especially the quaint and serene little seaside towns of Tiburon and Sausalito, both in full view of San Francisco but worlds away in terms of pace and pastoral yachts-bobbing-the-Bay setting, have just as much of a magnetic pull as the natural side of Marin. Farther inland, the mountain-side Mill Valley still has an alpine feel from early Swiss immigrants while the Pacific-side Marin City, adjacent to the Golden Gate National Recreation Center, is an excellent Marin County starting
point for coastal hiking.
